TeamBrent has funded childhood cancer research through participating in St.Baldrick’s Day, including a dedicated grant to Yale's Pediatric Oncology and 6 fellowships for neuroblastoma research, one of which is a very promising neuroblastoma relapse study led by nobel prize nominee Dr Judah Folkman.

    TeamBrent is partnering with
Dr. Lisa Diller, Chief Medical Officer of Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care, and Director of the Neuroblastoma Program, to open a much needed targeted MIBG/radiotherapy program at DFCHCC.

TeamBrent’s efforts helped Friends for Life fund one of Brent’s neuroblastoma doctors’ salary, Dr Suzy Schustermann.

TeamBrent has spread awareness through a local ad in the Fairfield County editions of Time, Newsweek, USNews & World Report and Sports Illustrated, thanking our generous St. Baldrick’s sponsors (60,000 impacts).

TeamBrent will spread awareness through a national neuroblastoma ad. We have partnered with the heads of CureSearch to create a site to support it, including awareness information and a dedicated fund focused on pushing new neuroblastoma drugs through the system (details TBD).

TeamBrent has helped others via much needed blood and platelet donations. The impact of this cannot be overstated. During Brents treatment he received blood and platelet transfusions nearly every other day. He was one child going through treatment. The amount of blood and platelets needed for childhood cancer patients is astronomical and this is something we can all do to help.

St. Baldrick's Day is an international event where participants shave their heads in exchange for donations towards childhood cancer research, in order to raise both money and awareness. Team Brent was launched in March of 2005 when family friend and Shelton schoolteacher Tom Andronowitz called to ask Brent's parents if he could shave his head in honor of Brent. When Brent's parents asked their friends to support Tom's efforts, many asked Brent's dad, Mike to shave his head. Mike gave them an "I Dare You" number of $17,514 (17 - St. Patrick's Day and May 14th, Brent's birthday) to do it. Two weeks later, Team Brent had 25 shavees, raised an amazing $87k, and Mike's head was as bald. When he came home, Brent loved touching it and saying "Daddy's head is like mine."

Why CT FACE ART got involved.

Brent is not just a name of a child we saw somewhere. Brent's sister and my own daughter are in class together.  Dana, Brent's mother thought painting the heads of those who "shaved their head for a cure" would be a fun activity for the event. I agree. What a fun idea! CT Face Art will be on hand for the event to do just that. Please visit the Events page for more details . Even if you cannot be there to shave your head, please visit Team Brent website for information on other events to participate in or to donate.  Just click on the Logo to go to website..

Even if you cannot shave your head for a cause and would still like to donate to TEAM BRENT please do so by CLICKING HERE
